Commercial Antenna Case Study

Posted by Ken Wee on July 29, 2009

There are tons of assignment in this semester. One of the assignment is Electromagnetic Assignment which is commercial antenna case study. We are required to buy 1 commercial antenna to study the working principle, backward and forward gain, physical shape, type, so and so. Here is some of the things we do to get data for the assignment.

Removing reflector from the antenna

Taking turn to hold the antenna

He looked pissed isn’t it?

1 busy holding antenna, 1 busy writing values and another busy giving instruction while me busy snapping picture!

Kelvin sleeping!

and he just woke up! look at the eyes!

Antenna signal booster. With rotation button, so pro! The antenna can rotate!

Thanks to the spectrum analyzer, we get to see the 433MHz signal strength!

What do you think will happen if we press this button?

FM Transmitter Assignment

Posted by Ken Wee on July 28, 2009

We did this assignment last semester and it was quite a success. It could transmit around 8-10 meter with superbly crystal clear sound. No joke about this, but due to antenna problem, the frequency will change if the antenna is adjusted. We left it at a box where our professor asked us to submit and did not collect it until last few days. We collected it and it is still working fine =D

Our FM Transmitter is working fine where the frequency spectrum analyzer could detect the frequency transmitted. Its the highest peak with a sideband on the right!

This is the latest picture of the hardware after a few months and it is still working ~
